Add New Template #

Go to E2Pdf -> Templates -> Add New

In the popup, while creating the E2Pdf Template, you can set preset settings such as: Title, Width, Height, Font, Font Size, Line Height, Text Align, RTL option, Extension, Item, and the type of E2Pdf Template to create.

Extension and Item are important settings that tell E2Pdf which data to generate PDFs from. They also define where and how shortcodes can be used.

    • If Extension is some form plugin, then the Item must be set to the form whose submissions you need to generate PDFs from.

    • If Extension is WordPress / WooCommerce - then the Item must be set to the post type from which you need to generate PDFs.
    • Empty PDF - create a completely empty E2Pdf Template.

    • Upload PDF - create an E2Pdf Template from a pre-made PDF. It is possible to control PDF fields and add new E2Pdf Elements, but other objects of the pre-made PDF cannot be controlled yet.

    • Auto PDF - create a draft E2Pdf Template with mapped fields depending on the E2Pdf Template's Extension and Item.

Add, Edit Fields and Elements #

Elements can be placed inside the E2Pdf Template via Drag&Drop from the PDF Builder panel. Elements are controlled with the mouse in a simple way.

Map Fields and Elements #

Map fields with the Visual Mapper or manually. In most cases, E2Pdf supports the syntax of 3rd party plugin integrations. Fields can be mapped manually with the "syntax" of the integration or with the Visual Mapper. The Visual Mapper can be opened via Right-click on the element -> Map. It shows fields depending on the Extension and Item. Just click the required field in the Visual Mapper to map it to the element inside the E2Pdf Template.

Save Template #

After the elements are added and mapped, the E2Pdf Template is ready to be saved. Use the Save / Update button inside the Preset MetaBox.

Activate Template #

Check the E2Pdf Template activation. If it has not been activated, activate it.

Use Shortcodes #

When the E2Pdf Template is saved / updated, use the Shortcodes menu to copy the required shortcodes. In this example, we use the [e2pdf-download] shortcode to generate the PDF download button after form submission.

Place the E2Pdf shortcode. Where to place it depends on the shortcode, the selected Extension and the Item. In our case, we place it inside the Success Message of the form.

Tips #

  • For the fastest tests, it's recommended to use the "E2Pdf" -> "Create PDF" backend page to debug the PDF output while updating and mapping the E2Pdf Template.
