Looking for any semblance of the idyllic middle-class existence he knew before his father's death and the family business collapsing, a charming, eternally optimistic ex-surfer named Dud stumbles into his life's new path. He finds himself on the doorstep of a rundown fraternal lodge, where a "Luminous Knight" of the order, plumbing salesman Ernie, welcomes him with open arms. Lodge 49 offers Dud a world of cheap beer, easy friendship and some strange alchemical philosophies that may help him confront his deepest fears and greatest hopes.

The meditative dramedy moves at a stoner's pace, but after a few episodes Lodge 49's subtle observations about capitalist alienation waft to the surface.

Such is life in the world of Lodge 49, a charming stroll through the ruins of late capitalism that feels real and metaphorical at once.

It's sort of, uh, Cheers meets Twin Peaks amid the ruins of late capitalism.

In a dark time of rapid disconnect, here’s a weird little show with a very positive messsage at its kooky core — stay connected, brothers.

A fabulous trip with Dudley. A flawed person who is too innocent not to love. Showing the struggles of people unable to succeed and are just after the simple life but constantly hitting hurdles. Many will be able to relate as they look for validation in there lives.
