I never read the comic book it’s based on, but I’m liking it as a standalone show. Dion is a relatable kid and you really want him to control his powers. His mother is a pretty good character too. The effects are really well done as well. My only problems with the show are the acting and the dialogue. It can be a little stiff and awkward sometimes. Overall, I’d say it’s a fun watch. Can’t wait to see how season two is! (Don’t get me started on her sister) Then her and Tevin didnt even kiss???? Whatever. Wouldn’t watch again. Really wanted Dion’s dad to be brought back with his fine self. The 2nd season really fell short, in the worst way. Great powers introduced but not much done with them. The parents are written horribly as well, I just don’t get it. See more Raakhee N @RT26985651 Jan 25, 2026 Raising Dion? More like Raising my Blood Pressure. There is so much to like about the concept of this show. The sci-fi mystery is solid and the special effects are impressive for a TV budget. But can we talk about the writing for Dion? I get that he’s a child, but there’s a fine line between "precocious" and "exhausting." He is written with a level of over-the-top confidence and "oversmart" dialogue that makes him feel less like a kid and more like a plot device designed to annoy the adults. For a show rooted in the superhero genre, it completely misses the gravity that usually comes with having powers. If you’re looking for a serious exploration of a kid with abilities, you’ll have to look past a very loud, very carefree protagonist. See more Jackson M. @Nshvlleindie Jan 12, 2026 Truly a terrific hidden gem that Netflix seriously mistreated and underappreciated. There’s a certain amateurity to production, but truthfully this actually turns into authenticity and charm. The originality of Dion has a believavle and natural progression anchored by wonderfully REAL actors and of course THE Michael B Jordan. See more Read all reviews
