For young Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naive Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. His father, George, is struggling to find his way as a high school football coach and as father to a boy he doesn't understand. Sheldon's mother, Mary, fiercely protects and nurtures her son. For 12 years on "The Big Bang Theory," audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. In "Young Sheldon," audiences get a chance to meet him in childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward and hopeful journey toward the man he will become. Jim Parsons, who plays the adult version of Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," narrates.

It has got a lot of heart, and plenty of laughs. Go to Full Review Catherine Gee Daily Telegraph (UK) Feb 23, 2018

What we have instead is a warm-hearted, coming-of-age tale in the style of The Wonder Years. But without a Parsons-level comic talent among the cast, this series will live or die based on whether the writers can create characters worth falling for. Young Sheldon the character might be genius offspring, Young Sheldon the show, not yet. Could do better. Go to Full Review Alberto Carlos Espinof Aug 9, 2019
A halo of nostalgia and family drama permeates the series, and the mix is surprising. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Jun 29, 2018
As with the adult Sheldon, there are just enough outbreaks of sweetness to make you love him, despite everything. Go to Full Review Euan Ferguson Observer (UK) Mar 12, 2018
Thankfully shorn of laughter track, it will surprise some with its (relative) delicacy, its long, nice, un-busy single-camera shots, at stark odds with its frenetic parent show. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Genuinely funny 🫶🏼 See more IVANA P @RT19163502 Apr 26, 2026 Young Sheldon Season 1 is a comedy-drama TV series created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro. In my opinion, the show is interesting because it shows another part of his story that helps explain some of his behaviors. The story develops with 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper. Firstly, we get to see how he is in high school and all the challenges this brings not only to him but to his family as well. At the same time, his family deals with their own problems, such as money issues, school challenges, and personal relationships. In my opinion, the show is both funny and emotional. It is a funny show meaning because of Sheldos ' personality and how, despite being very intelligent, he does not get a lot of things. In addition, the show can sometimes feel predictable because Sheldon is already known from The Big Bang Theory, but it is still enjoyable to watch. Young Sheldon Season 1 is an entertaining and emotional series. I think it is a good mix of humor and family drama.
