US network to remake Ludwig

Ludwig has been a remarkable success for the BBC, and that success has not gone unnoticed abroad.

Deadline reports that US network ABC has ordered a pilot, to be called Rabbit.

After his homicide detective twin brother goes missing, Mark, a reclusive puzzle writer known as Rabbit, is pulled from his solitary life and thrust into the Cambridge, MA police department, where he poses as his brother to investigate his mysterious disappearance. But soon, Mark discovers that his uncanny ability to solve impossible puzzles makes him an unlikely crime-solving sensation, per the logline.

    1. Agreed, American TV is horrible. They are gonna turn this fun show with great actors into rubbish. The US tries to remake UK shows all the time and they never make it past one season, whereas the same UK shows are on for years. I live on Britbox and Acorn

  1. My first thought reading the headline was the same as the other two previous comments. Utter disaster. Most of the US audiences do not get UK humour and almost everything they copy, especially comedy, does not translate . Plus I can’t see anyone else playing Ludwig. The character is basically David Mitchell playing himself. I’m Canadian with UK roots (after my parents divorced my dad moved back to England) and we grew up with British humour. You don’t even have to have UK roots. Canadian humour is quite similar just a little bit more polite at times.

    1. I’m Canadian with Italian roots. This will be another disaster like the US version of Doc Martin. No way they will capture the wits of Ludwig or understand its plot. Sorry, Murica. You are giod with the Hollywood thing – kinda. But this will be a high bar to pass.

  2. I’m an American and my husband and I love British humor and mysterious. We agree that David Mitchell is perfect as Ludwig and have been anxiously waiting for season 2.
