The Accordions block (also called the Content Toggle block) in Ultimate Blocks lets you add collapsible panels that readers open and close with one click. It is a simple way to build FAQ sections, and it can add FAQ schema so Google understands your questions and answers. The block is free, and Ultimate Blocks Pro adds a content search box that finds and highlights text inside the panels.
| Block name in the editor | Accordions (UB) |

What you can use it for #
- Build an FAQ section with FAQ schema (FAQPage structured data) for search engines.
- Show product details, shipping info and return policies in compact panels.
- Break long documentation or policies into sections readers can open as needed.
- Hide spoilers, answers to quizzes or extra details until a reader asks for them.
- Let readers search inside a long FAQ and see matches highlighted (Pro).
How to add the Accordions block #
- Open the post or page in the WordPress block editor.
- Click the + (Block Inserter) button.
- Search for Accordions (you can also search for content toggle) and click the Accordions (UB) block to add it.
- Type a title in the first panel, then add the content below it.

Add, remove and edit panels #
Each panel has a title and a content area. Hover over a panel to see its controls:
- Insert New Toggle Above and Insert New Toggle Below (the + icons): add a new panel before or after the current one.
- Delete This Toggle (the x icon): remove the panel.
- Move up and Move down in the block toolbar: change the order of the panels.
- Switch toggle location (the left and right arrows icon): move the open and close icon to the other side of the title.

Click the panel title to edit it. Titles support bold, italic and links. Click inside the content area to add blocks with the + button. A panel can hold any block: text, lists, images, videos, buttons or even another accordion.

Settings tab #
Select a panel and open the block sidebar on the right. The Settings tab (gear icon) has these panels:

Panel Title #
- Select Heading Tag: choose the HTML tag for this panel title: H1 to H6, or P for normal text. Pick a heading level that fits your page outline, for example H3 for questions under an H2 “FAQ” heading.
Toggle State #
- Show only one panel at a time: opening one panel closes the others.
- Collapsed: all panels start closed when the page loads.
- Default Open: when Collapsed is on, choose one panel that starts open (or none).
- Collapsed on mobile: panels start closed on phones only, so mobile visitors see a short list of titles.
- Prevent collapse: keep panels open so readers cannot close them. This is available only when Collapsed, Collapsed on mobile and Show only one panel at a time are off.
FAQ Schema #
- Enable FAQ Schema: add FAQPage structured data to the page. Each panel title becomes a question and its content becomes the answer. Use it when your panels really are questions and answers.

Advanced #
- Panel ID: give the panel an anchor so you can link straight to it (one or two words, no spaces).
- Use this panel in the Table of Contents: list this panel title in the Ultimate Blocks Table of Contents block. This option is hidden when the title tag is P.
Styles tab #
Switch to the Styles tab (half-circle icon) to change the look of the block:
- Color: Title Container Color (background of the title bar), Title Color, Title link Color and Toggle Icon Color.
- Toggle Status Icon: pick the open and close Icon (or None), and set its Location to Left or Right of the title.
- Panel Border and Panel Border Radius: set or remove the border around each panel and round its corners.
- Dimension Settings: Padding and Margin of the whole block.

Pro features #
Content search: turn on Enable content search to show a search box above the accordion. Readers type a word and the block shows only the panels that contain it.
- Show search summary: show how many matches were found.
- Highlight: highlight the matching words inside the panels.
- Match case: only match words with the same upper and lower case.
- Search input filters: choose what the search looks at.
- Search Alignment and Stretch: position the search box or make it full width.

Frequently asked questions #
How do I add an accordion in WordPress?
Install the free Ultimate Blocks plugin, then add the Accordions (UB) block in the block editor wherever you need it. You can add as many panels as you like.
Does the Accordions block add FAQ schema?
Yes. Turn on Enable FAQ Schema in the FAQ Schema panel. The block then outputs FAQPage structured data with each panel title as the question and its content as the answer.
How do I keep all panels closed when the page loads?
Turn on Collapsed in the Toggle State panel. You can still choose one panel to start open with Default Open.
Can I allow only one open panel at a time?
Yes. Turn on Show only one panel at a time in the Toggle State panel. Opening a panel closes the one that was open.
Can I link directly to a panel?
Yes. Open the Advanced panel in the block sidebar and enter a Panel ID. A link ending in #your-id goes straight to that panel.
Is the Accordions block free?
Yes. It is part of the free Ultimate Blocks plugin. The content search box with highlighting is part of Ultimate Blocks Pro.
