Critics Consensus

The Calling offers an excellent cast and a few decent thrills, but that isn't enough to overcome its lack of suspense or original ideas.

Could have snapped up the pacing a bit, but the slower tempo gives us more time to sit back and enjoy the performances. Go to Full Review

Robert P @Superbad Oct 12, 2026 The Calling is a *2* star Movie! See more
ShawBarrie A @MissMiller May 4, 2026 The book series is good, and this movie would have been better if we could have gotten to see the more interesting hazel the book offered. The premise is interesting enough and the killer had an intriguing, but not so unique backstory, but this film tore the spine and the guts out of the book and gave us a limp noodle. See more
Sally G @WellingtonSally Jan 31, 2026 Seriously impressive cast. Terribly long and super predictable. Not at all scary or suspenseful. See more
Glen W @RT20267106 Sep 11, 2025 Another stressed out female cop with health problems and/or alcoholism, but lucks out in the end. Good cast, but no likeability. See more
Jelisije J @jjosifovic Nov 16, 2024 A serial killer is around and Susan Sarandon must try to stop him in an unexpected good thriller. See more
Mary S @Bloody_Mary Sep 8, 2024 There was a very original element to this movie, which I very much appreciated as someone who had studied linguistics. The performances are a bit wooden, and there is a lot about the portrayal of law enforcement that was implausible. But I enjoyed this nonetheless. See more
