The Great Dictator's Comedy And Message Of Unity Are As Timeless As Ever

As the 1940's began, the world as people had known it was changing rapidly. In the world of entertainment, the advent of color and sound in cinema was altering everything people knew was possible in this medium of storytelling. Films like The Jazz Singer, Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs and The Wizard of Oz would ensure that the future of cinema would look radically different from what had come before it, and what had come prior to this age of colorized cinema was a world of movies dominated by Charlie Chaplin, a guy known for making a silent movies even into an age where sound had become the default standard for movies.

Liza Minnelli And Bob Fosse Joins Forces For Thoughtful Musical Fare In Cabaret

The idea of Liza Minelli and the late great Bob Fosse teaming up feels like as natural a pairing as peanut butter and jelly or dogs and cuteness or Donald Trump and racism. EGOT winner Liza Minnelli most certainly knows her way around a musical number while you'd be hard pressed to find individuals in American pop culture from any era more adept at the art of dancing than Mr. Bob Fosse, whose knowledge of how to pull off the most exquisite dance moves seemed to come as naturally to him as breathing air. A Strong Jessica Chastain Performance, A Quiet Atmosphere And Some Cute Animals Are All Notable Elements Of The Zookeeper's Wife

The opening scene of The Zookeeper's Wife is so awesome and something I would have been more than happy to watch for six or seven hours or even longer. For a few minutes, we get to just see Jessica Chastain romp around the zoo she runs with her husband and it's so cool to see her interact with or feed a large number of wild animals. Seeing a gigantic hippo tranquilly eat some apples or watching a tiny camel run alongside Chastain's character riding on a bicycle is quite the entertaining sight. Bonus points for having a scene not long afterward centered on a super adorable baby elephant, even if it does involve the baby elephant in grave peril!
